To the Allied Health Professionals
I wanted to have a separate page where I could share a bit more information about my commitment to working in conjunction with allied health professionals to support patient/client needs.
I like to focus on safety and efficiency of movement and determine a progression strategy based on the individual’s needs (prioritizing neuromuscular activation before all other means of progression).
I am constantly “reading the room” as it relates to the appropriateness of using bodyweight and/or BIA options for measuring progress. I ask a series of questions in my intake that enables me to know if its appropriate to discuss weight/calories. I find that most people are at least comfortable discussing these subjects, but may not be comfortable tracking weight or using a body scanning device to track muscular growth. Further, I keep an eye out for signs of a disordered relationship with the scale, the gym/exercise, and food.
A few other random things that you might care to know:
I always seek consent before touching a client - not everyone wants to be touched
I worked with trainers (and did multiple complimentary sessions before finding the right fit) - so I know what it’s like to be on the client side of things
I will always refer out when I’m out of my depth - and I have a host of excellent trainers (and physical therapists) in my network with whom I can consult.
I’m a lover of nuance and am deeply anti-dogmatic (as it relates to exercise and fitness in general)
I take a fairly gentle approach with clients - especially new ones - but I would not be serving my clients well if I saw a potential health concern and chose to ignore it for the sake of their comfort. An example that comes to mind is if a client doesn’t want to be weighed or talk about weight/food, but if I spot something that I’m concerned about - like them complaining about symptoms related to blood pressure issues or a dark patch that may be acanthosis nigricans I will still gently bring it to their attention and share why I’m concerned - even if I know that they may be a little mad at me for talking about something that may be a bit triggering. I’m (gently) clear and upfront with this with all my clients.
I know I don’t have all the answers - but I try my best to keep up-to date with the ever-progressing science. I’m not afraid of admitting when I don’t know something yet, and I have a brilliant network of trainers, strength coaches, physical therapists, and movement experts that I can tap into to help troubleshoot any issues I face.
Basically, I want you to know that your clients/patients are safe with me.

Get in touch
Below is a link to my “get in touch landing page.” If you’d like to have a quick conversation before referring someone to me, I would be more that happy to set up a time - just make sure you note that in the form.
You’re more than welcome to skip that step and just share it with your client/patient. My “about me” page is pretty well fleshed-out, so they can learn a bit more about me there before reaching out.
